THE END… for now. My several new sketchbooks full of splatters are well underway and I can see several new weird and wonderful creations emerging from them. More stories will follow, but whether I’ll have time before the end of uni or if I’ll have to carry them on as a personal project remains to be seen…

When I first thought about what the Inverted Angel (top right in this post here, well, I’m sure you can tell which one he is) would be like as a character, I imagined him to be… dopier. He looks pretty dopey. In the end he turned out to be… well… pretty awesome.

Although I didn’t try to recreate the Dancing Monk with paper, he’s probably the most easily recreatable/produced character of my first book of splatter designs.
I’ve now started on my second splatter sketchbook to generate more weird designs, I’m intending to make four or five in total for my class interim exhibition. Which is on the 17th-18th of January in Shoreditch, London, in case anyone wants to just pencil that in there…

I ended up choosing the characters I was most fond of out of my book of splatters. The Firesprite is based on the top right splatter here, which was probably the most perfectly formed splatter of all my experiments… it’s tricky to recreate a perfect but organic splatter, though!

Like with The Orphans Who Had Parents, I’ll be posting these more slowly than I’m actually producing them. That’s partially because some of the blobbier pages take forever to dry so that I can scan them, but mostly because then you’ll still have pretty things to look at when I’m working on my dissertation final draft in the Christmas holiday.
